Embracing the Plastic Camera: A Ted Orland Workshop All registrations are now on line Ted Orland became known for his large format photography, publishing Man and Yosemite and Scenes of Wonder and Curiousity, assisting Ansel Adams, and teaching at Stanford University and University of Oregon. As he came to believe "life was whooshing right past me while I was trying to set up my tripod," the Holga plastic camera came into his life. Today he carries one with him almost all the time, embracing the simple camera and its often fuzzy, quirky imagery as being in tune with his views of the world. In this workshop, in addition to providing photography insights gleaned from his life in photography, Orland will provide an introduction to the world of Holga imagery. Each participant will receive a basic Holga camera and a roll of 120 film and be briefed on using it effectively. Orland will provide first hand knowledge, hints and "taping" procedures, and lead a field excursion to assist you in seeing through the plastic lens. His approach is like the camera itself---basic, easy-going, and fun. Also, a portfolio review session of participants' photography will be provided Friday evening, and registrants should bring 10-15 prints of the their work. The workshop will take place at The Center for Photography at Madison, 303 S. Paterson Street, Madison, WI and in a field excursion in the Madison area. There will be a one hour lunch break on Saturday from noon-1 p.m. The fee is $110 for CPM members, and $125 for non-members. (A Holga camera and roll of 120 mm film is included in the fee. The camera is yours to take with you following the workshop.) The workshop is limited to 14 registrants. If the workshop is full, you will be notified and placed on a waiting list. Refund/Cancellation Policy: Refunds of the full amount will be provided up to 30 days prior to the workshop. For cancellations, 29 to 5 days prior to the review date, half the fee will be refunded. For cancellations less than 5 days before the review date, no refund will be provided, unless a replacement can be found.
