Course Summary & Description

Enter into the stream of a non-destructive workflow. Immediately lift your photographs to a higher plane with clear and patient instruction. Take control of your editing workflow and begin to realize your creative vision.

This class is designed for those who have never used Lightroom and Photoshop or have just an elemental understanding of the software. The workflow instruction will target RAW conversion, color management, tonal balancing, enhancing details, making selections, sharpening and preparation to print.

A Printing 101 session with an Epson printer & papers, workspace design, basic camera settings, and more will be included in the three-day experience.

This workshop is about laying down a strong foundation. It is not a watered down version of post-processing but an actual entry into the real thing. Suzanne’s approach to teaching the craft of a workflow is based on her own personal approach to making images.

Her mindset is about demystifying the craft while working in an artful, mindful manner. The Beginner’s Workflow will usher the novice to a clear understanding and a solid foothold in the fine art of post-processing.

Suzanne also includes a 100+ page handbook and her Photoshop actions that will guide and expedite the entire experience. The cost of this $25 handout is included in the tuition.

A supply list and workshop details will be sent upon registration. You should bring a laptop computer with Photoshop & Lightroom. A free download of a 30 day trial of both Lightroom & Photoshop is available at As of January 20, 2017, the link to the trial version is

Suzanne Rose is a nationally recognized artist that practices the fine art of photography as a ‘mindful minimalist’ - in style and philosophy. She is a National Foundation for the Advancement in the Arts (NFAA) fellow and a five-time recipient of the Wisconsin Arts Board fellowship for individual artists.

Educated at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Suzanne has always remained close to her Midwestern roots by photographing thematic bodies of works of family and community that explore memory, purpose and place. Most recently, she was selected for the Wisconsin Triennial 2016.

Suzanne’s work has been the subject of major solo exhibitions at the Fairfield Museum of Contemporary Art, Museum of Wisconsin Art, and Corcoran Gallery of Art

Her photographs can be found in many public and private collections, including the Miller Art Museum, Racine Art Museum, Chazen Museum of Art, and the Corcoran Gallery of Art.

Suzanne lives in a one-hundred year old brick house with her artist husband, Jim Rose, and daughter off the beaten track in Northeast Wisconsin.
